Interview: Arthur Miller

Me: Hello Mr Miller. I would like to ask you some questions about you're book the Crucible. Do you have some time to discuss it?

Miller: Yes of course.

Me: Well what was the real reason for you writing the Crucible?

Miller: The reason for me writing the Crucible is to show one of the strangest and most awful chapters in human history.

Me: And how has the public responded to this? Any critics?

Miller: The public has responded in a negative and positive way.

Me: Do you mind expanding on that?

Miller: On the positive side people are seeing how obscene these McCarthy trials are. And on the negative side I'm being accused of being a communist myself.

Me: I have read the book. Why is it that the book is so close to McCarthyism?

Miller: Like the girls making radical accusations, McCarthy himself is doing the same thing just covering it up in a different name and trying to hide it in a different method.

Me: It was a pleasure talking to you but i have ran out of time. Thank you again for your time.

Miller: It was a pleasure.
